Project: Men’s Wellbeing Alliance –Sessional Staff
Reports to: Project Leads (The MindKind Projects CIC, Walsall FC Foundation, MettaMinds CIC)
Location: Across Walsall – community venues, sports facilities, workplaces, and public spaces
Hours: Flexible, generally up to 5 hours per week but will fluctuate dependent on delivery.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Contract Type: Sessional / Casual / Self Employed
Duration: Initially for 3 months with a view to extend dependant on performance and funding.
Purpose of the Role
To engage and support men from diverse backgrounds in Walsall to improve mental health and wellbeing, reduce stigma, and connect them with appropriate services and activities. Sessional staff will deliver outreach, engagement, and wellbeing support in line with the programme’s aims, working in community-based, male-friendly spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Engagement
- Conduct outreach in agreed community settings (barbershops, gyms, workplaces, sports clubs, faith venues, public events)
- Support men to access wider health and wellbeing services in Walsall.
- Distribute promotional materials and signposting information (physical and QR-linked)
- Programme Delivery
- Support the delivery of Men’s Forum and Strategic Group actions
- Facilitate and contribute to events, campaigns, and wellbeing activities
- Partnership & Networking
- Build and maintain relationships with grassroots organisations, businesses, and service providers
- Represent the programme at local events and meetings where required
- Monitoring & Reporting
- Record engagement data accurately and in line with GDPR
- Submit feedback, case studies, and referral information using programme templates
- Safeguarding & Safety
- Follow safeguarding, lone working, and health & safety procedures at all times
- Respond appropriately to disclosures or signs of crisis and follow escalation procedures
Person Specification
Essential:
- Lived or professional experience engaging with men from underserved communities
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
- Commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding best practice
- Flexible and responsive to changing community needs
Desirable:
- Experience in outreach, health promotion, or community development
- Knowledge of local services in Walsall
- Relevant qualifications in mental health, wellbeing, sport, or community work
